8th July 2009

09h58 - No Milk this morning, Roo finished it having Milo last night and I almsot went into nuclear breakdown, my morning coffee is serioulsy underrated, without it I am a half eye opened Zombie trawling the house, I think I might even look that scary as well.

My cricket club have saved me in more ways than one, they have scrapped my match fees and will allow me to do some coaching to get some spare change in! Covers the fuel needed to get to games and back! Seriously pleased and really grateful, with some people missing our team for Saturday has been selected - Jan, Pimms, Cy, Jarrod, Quaggy, Morlers, Me, Qais, Flounder, Dilbert and the Badger. Some forced changes as people are missing but still a strong team that I have high hopes that we can make it two in a row with.

I have the job interview tomorrow, here is hoping and praying it goes well.

7th July 2009

09h41 - 134 days and no job, I have a dinkum interview on Thursday so here is hoping that I can finally get a job, with the pinch as bad as it is I also had to make the sad choice to can cricket until I get a job. It has unfortunately got that bad! Also spoke to the bank yesterday and between my wife and I we will somehow manage to make a plan. She really is the most amazing women and I am very proud to be married to her. Other news is that Roo got his "bars" for cricket at school, not entirely sure what that means but really chuffed, at club is is firmly ensconed as the captain now which also makes me secretly very chuffed! Blade has eaten himself into a stupor the last couple of days and besides having a RIPE rear end now has an upset stomach to boot. *SIGH*

I have missed some of Murphy's laws so here are two more:

3 - If you drop a nut while fixing anything it will roll to the exact epicentre where you are unable to reach it.
4 - A Smith & Western beats four aces.

6th July 2009

09h34 - Absolutely smashed our opposition on Saturday. It was really a top notch batting performance, although if I had to be extremely critical our fielding over the last 15 overs was really bad. We bowled really well to start with and even with our fielding lapse we were set 204 off 45 overs for victory. I managed to sneak 4 wickets so was secretly really chuffed with that. Badger also took 4 but in my defence he bolwed 20 over I bolwed 7! Our batters then just went beserk. 206/1 in 24.2 overs! Yippee Kai Yay MF! Pimms got fired on 26 where he was actually looking very dangerous. Jan smashed 92 off 67 and Dog chipped in the 62 at a run ball. So 13 points in thh bag! Massive fines session followed and I know I stumbled into bed at 02h00. Not sure of all the details but it was defintely a good night!

3rd July 2009

08h43 - I took the wife to work this morning which means Roo and I have the car for the day, I have successfully found enough pennies for us to go watch Transformers II, YAY! With cricket looming tomorrow it looks like there might be a massive fines in store with the wife going to the her sister for her nephew's birthday and with Roo probably going to Angus' it means I will be free to get rat arsed and drown some of the blues that have been piling up recently. Blade has successfully managed to find the loaf of bread and eat it ALL whilst I dropped off my wife, biscuits and coffee for breakfast then!

2nd July 2009

09h27 - It has now been 129 days without a job, I am loosing my mind. I have applied for well in excess of 200 jobs and still the big nothingness that is a jobless Pumba. I also managed to put my foot in my mouth when my wife came to cuddle at 3 in the morning by saying I was too hot. 3 hours later and no sleep on my side and at least we were on speaking terms again. One day I will learn to just shut up! I also feel really crappy about selections and sent a mail to the Doger and Qais. They should have played instead of the non-committed yet stronger players. Hind sight is 20/20. Hope they don't think I am a total pratt.

17h00 - Waited the whole day in vain just in case the recruitment company called for an interview, no such luck. Roo (stepson) went off and played tennis with his friend that's a girl Frankie. I have sat in front of my PC scouring the Internet for even more jobs, I have now applied for post in Nigeria, can you Adam and Eve it. I am that desperate. Watched Serena "I am 99.9% human and not ape" Williams beat Elena, really sad the Russian could not put away match point when she had the chance. I suppose that's what BMT is all about. I think I have that BMT ... *Serious face*. Walked Blade and the dog is now out for the count. It's 29° and humid as all hell. A black Lab and the sun/heat is not a good recipe for the poor guy.

1st July 2009

08h19 - Received a call from a recruitment agent yesterday that sounds very positive, I have been getting my hopes up in the last little while to no avail so I am hoping she is not messing with my head. If all goes well I should know about a possible interview today. On a seperate note selection last night for cricket was a pain. We possibly have the strongest side we can put out and I now have the unenviable job of informing those that have been dropped.

Side for Sat - Pimms, Jan, Quagy, Jarrod, Dog, Morlers, Me, Flounder, Dilbert, Badger and Shaz.

12h00 - Took the black mass, otherwise known as Blade for a walk. It never stops amazing me that the size of his "crap" can double in size the moment it's on somebody else's lawn, the red in my cheeks will fade sometime today at having a lounge full of old people stare at me as I clean up 7 kilograms of dog crap.

13h58 - Had the response from most of those that were dropped and it's a very hollow feeling having to be the brunt of peoples "anger". Also makes me feel sad that I seem to be putting winning above all else. Saturday's team better deliver otherwise I may just feel worse. On the job front, still wait for it, nothing. I swear the world is against me. Especially "Murphy". I'll try jot down some of his more well known laws through the course of the week.

18h00 - No phone call from the recruitment agent, why am I not surprised. *sigh*

Murphy's laws:
1 - Don't mess with Mother Nature, she is a bitch.

30 June 2009

08h36 - Start of the "The World According to Pumba". I have been fishing with ideas on what to do here and have decided that a "Spud" type diary is the way to go. I'll post as often as I can and as often as I can remember.

09h15 - Blade (the dog, medium black lab) has just decided that grass is far more edible than the specialist labrodor food we buy him. It's strange seeing a black lab chewing grass like a cow.

09h40 - The daily banter with the cricket side has started, Dog, Badger, Dilbert, Quaggy, Flounder, The Human Destroyer - Our cricket side sounds like the local rabbit who found one too many willing partners - truth be told it's probably not far off the truth.

13h08 - Finished bringing in the washing, I have now been jobless for 3 months and the household chores are starting to almost become second nature, you know there are problems when you know the cycles of your dishwasher and washing machine better than your wife does!
